Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have pleasantly surprised the gaming community by announcing that the blocky knight will return to screens a week earlier than originally planned. Instead of the end of May, Gotham City will open its doors in its new LEGO edition in the second half of the month.
New plans for the return to Gotham City LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is released on May 22, which brings the release date forward a week from the previously announced May 29. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox SeriesX/S and PC, while the Switch 2 version will follow later this year.
This move suggests that the development process at TT Games has been running extremely smoothly, which is always a good sign for the quality of the final product. Along with the new date, a fresh trailer has been released that further heats up the atmosphere, showcasing the combination of recognizable LEGO humor and the darker aesthetic of Batman.
Unlike previous linear titles, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight brings a completely new open world experience. Players will get the chance to follow Bruce Wayne's epic journey from his early days to his transformation into the protector of Gotham. What makes this project special is the incredible breadth of inspiration, the developers drew inspiration from decades of Batman films, television series, comics, and even earlier video games.
The entire title is steeped in DC lore and nostalgia, but remains true to the roots laid by TT Games. This means that along with dramatic moments, we will also find their signature style of humor that knows how to turn any situation into a joke. The exploration of Gotham will be filled with numerous secrets and interactions that will be appreciated by both the most ardent comic book fans and a younger audience who are just getting to know the Dark Knight.
